Inserting Column Into Table Takes 20 Seconds

Anyone have any tips? Just thought I'd try my luck in case someone has encountered this before.
    • I do not have any corrupted named ranges
    • Conditional formatting is not heavy
    • The workbook corrupted, repaired fine with no issues & seemed fine; I'm just having problems insertin a column into a particular table which takes a long time. Creating this workbook from scratch is not an issue; it's more like a database really
    • Tried copying the worksheet & table to a new worksheet which has not fixed the issue
    • There is not a lot of data in the table; not even 50 rows; & around 50 columns
If it's been helpful please mark as helpful

If you're facing slow performance when inserting a column into a table in your workbook, here are a few tips you can try:
    1. Turn off automatic calculations in Excel before inserting the column. This can help improve performance. Just go to the Formulas tab, click on "Calculation Options," and select "Manual."
    2. Clear your clipboard before inserting the column. Sometimes a large clipboard can slow down Excel. Just click on the "Home" tab, go to the Clipboard section, and choose "Clear All."
    3. Simplify any complex formulas or functions, especially those marked as "volatile" (like NOW() or RAND()). This can help speed things up.
    4. Disable any unnecessary add-ins in Excel. Go to the "File" tab, select "Options," choose "Add-Ins," and manage them accordingly.
    5. Make sure you have the latest updates for Excel and your operating system. These updates often address performance issues.

If these tips don't solve the problem, providing more details about your Excel version and operating system will help others assist you better. Good luck!
