Excel - non vba code - formula does not agree with manual calculation

I have a system result = 21.9 which is .98 of the source number. To find the system (source) number I manually calculated 21.9 and divided that number by .98 which resulted in 22.34; I then multiplied the result by .98 with the result of 21.98 (must be 2 decimal places). The 21.98 is the actual calculated result that i need; however, when I incorporate that logic into Excel the result = 21.9 which is correct, however I need the excel calculation to equal 21.89 (I have set the number format to 2 decimal places), but the result will not change from 21,9. I need a formula(s) that will provide the same calculation as my manual calculation (with 2 decimal places).

    Let's have a look.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook (yellow banner: HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK). Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    Hello CRJ42,

You can just use the "ROUNDDOWN" function before you multiply by .98
    Follow attached.

    Cheers!
