why is Excel displaying csv values all in one column with Comma separations, while another PC opens it normally where values are in Column A and Column B. how do I fix it?

So many things could be involved here:
1. Are both PCs running the same version of Excel? What v ersions are they?
2. Is the file being opened in both versions in exactly the same way? Or is it being opened in one and imported into the other?
Can you attach the CSV file (desensitised)?

Thanks for your reply, yes both are Windows 11, both are running same Excel, and both are opened exactly same way, if I move that file from one PC to another it opens in different columns like it should. not sure what setting needs to be changed. file attached below

How EXACTLY are you opening it?
It opens as two columns for me when I double-click the file.
its 2019 on for PCs, I have, same OS same Excel, I am just double clicking on it to open it, not sure what settings to change or what to try

So you are both using Excel 2019, you are both double-clicking the SAME file - yes? Which of you is having the problem?
I have never explored this in great detail, but somewhere in Windows' Regional and Language settings is something like a "list separator" setting. Excel (and other programs) can use this setting to determine what character is used in delimited text files (like csv files). My guess is that one of your computers has a different character chosen for this system setting, and is no longer recognizing comma "," as the default delimited text file delimiter.

Thank you! yes, your solution worked found it and fixed it.
Opens for me in two columns in Excel on an iPad.
Bear in mind that Excel can retain settings from previous imports. I would have thought closing and reopening Excel would fix that though. Or maybe a reboot.

If it helps you find it, on my version of Windows (7), it's in Control Panel -> Language and Region settings -> Formats -> Additional Settings
