    Re: Carton box stuffing calculator

This is a well known problem that is not so easy to solve:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bin_packing_problem

Do you have a limited number of box sizes?

    Re: Carton box stuffing calculator

We need to know roughly how many different sizes a box can be (fewer is better). Ignoring orientation, your example only used 2 (30x10x10 and 20x10x10). Also, if every box has at least 1 dimension in common (10 cm in your example), can it be treated as multi-layer 2-dimensional problem, instead of 3-dimensional?

Also, packing instructions would need to include each box's orientation + position (or order of insertion, using rules of placement) within the specified dolly. If you have more than a few easily identifiable sizes, your packers would have to process a lot of information.
