How to keep cells merged (not centered) without using merge option?

    Hi all,

    Hope all are well.

In attached file, cells C5 to C11 are merged with column D. When i try to copy and paste data in C5 to C11, excel gives error as below

Is there anyway this issue can be solved?

Don't merge cells - it's the kiss of death.

Use centre across selection instead: https://www.wallstreetprep.com/knowl...lection-excel/

    Hi AliGW.

    Thanks for your response.

It already tried but that will unmerge and create 2 different cells i.e. C5 and D5 whereas i want just 1 because data needs to be entered in 1 single cell.

I cannot keep 3 columns since some of the rows contain 4 cells. As a result keeping 3 columns initially will disturb the entire form's layout

I concur with Ali and Ford. Merged Cells are the road to disaster

    Try this:

    Format cells
    Alignment
    Horizontal
    Center across selection

You enter the data into C5, but once centred across the selection (C5 and D5), the text will loook identical to a merged cell.

You are making frankly silly arguments for continuing to use merged cells, which should always be avoided.

    Hi all,

I now understood that merge cells are to be avoided. The only way left is to change the form layout.

Many thanks to all for your responses
