Expanding Excel to fit on a page

I have an excel file that is a list of contents with six columns ( # Content Date Page Dash Page ) ... There are about 70 rows. I set the page layout to be 1 page wide and 3 pages high, but when ready for printing it always reverts to 2 pages high - I manually set the page breaks - it won't let me have three pages, only two ... and I want a page break after item #28, but when I do this, it squashes up so the printout takes only a half to two-thirds of the page and the font is too small. Any clues, please? Thanks, ken

    Welcome to the Forum Kengregau2!

It is really hard to imagine what you have from this description.

Your title refers to expanding, but there is no mention of that in your description. When you set up Page Layout with pages wide and pages tall, it is a constraint, not scaling. That is, Excel will shrink the page to fit to the specified layout, but it will not expand it to fill. If you want your page to expand you have to manually set "Adjust to ____% normal size".

If you do not constrain the page layout, how many pages wide and how many tall are printed?

At what points do you manually set page breaks? What do you mean that it won't let you have three pages? If you set two page breaks, you will get (at least) three pages.

I suggest you attach a copy of your file, and tell us exactly what you would like to see on the printout. See yellow banner at the top of the page.

You seem only to have one page break imposed, and there's not enough stuff to warrant three pages, anyway. Print view looks fine - no squashed data or fonts. You do have a massive header margin, otherwise I do not see any issues. Is it because of the printer you are using and its default set-up? Is it set to A4 portrait?

Put the page break where you want it? That is, lower down? Why would you want the table to be stretched to fit? Would look awful. Maybe just let Excel decide where the page break should be?

Re: Expanding Excel to fit on a page

    From Post #1:
I want a page break after item #28
    From Post #6
I would like page 1 to fill the whole page
    So which is it?

I would think you want to go to menu "Page Layout", then "Breaks", the "Reset All Breaks".

Then change your formulas to what popipipo shows in post#9.
