    Filter by different workbooks

I have a spreadsheet that has over 20,000 entries in it with various data. I have another spreadsheet that has around 144 entries in it. I want to use the 144 entries and match/filter from the 20,000 based on a certain column. I want to get the 20,000 entry spreadsheet to filter down to the 144, so that I can copy some data from those entries that isn't in the 144 entry list. Otherwise, I will have to go line by line and use the find feature. Then copy/paste. Is there an easy way to do this?

    Thanks!

    Hi there.

A picture is worth 1,000 words. An Excel sheet is worth 1,000 non-editable pictures.

Please read the yellow banner about sample worksheets, at the top of the screen. Act on its guidelines and post a SMALL sample sheet complete with an explanation and some expected results. In your case TWO small sample sheets!!

Screenshot 1 is the file that contains 20,000 records. Screenshot 2 has around 144. Screenshot 2 has two entries in Column H highlighted. These correspond to two entries in Column D in Screenshot 1. I want
to use the numbers in Column H of the small spreadsheet to filter Column D in the large spreadsheet. Keep in mind, these are not different tabs in the same file. These are two separate Excel files that I'm
working with. I only need to filter the large spreadsheet so that I can copy data from it. Once that is done, the smaller spreadsheet will be deleted. So, if it's a formula or something like that, it will
be deleted once I'm done. I only want the larger spreadsheet to show the numbers in Column D to match the numbers in Column H of the smaller spreadsheet.

In my opinion the best tool to do this is Power Query (Excel native tool), so you can work with those two tables.
