Hyperlink Cell to URL...URLs values stored in another sheet

I want to be able to hyperlink a cell to a URL...but the web address to link to is in another sheet.

So lates say I have a A1 in sheet1 with an entered value of 26. When I click on the cell, I want it to open a URL in my browser...and that URL is hyperlink is stored in sheet2 B2.

I just can't get this to work.

I can't enter a formula (=hyperlink) into that cell sheet1!A1 as I need the value in that cell to be able to be changed.

When I highlight the cell and open the insert link dialog box, and I try to reference the cell that contains the URL, click OK and then click on the cell, it says "Cannot open the specified file".

Any help greatly appreciated.

The hyperlink feature of a cell does not have the ability to do indirection for a URL contained in another cell. I think you are going to need VBA to do this. The box you are filling in in the insert link dialog box needs the URL itself, or you set it up to jump to a cell. But you can't reference a cell to provide the URL.

This may not be optimal for your situation but I would do this by putting a HYPERLINK formula in one cell, and the value you want in another cell.

What is the logic that determines that cell Sheet1!A1 references a URL in Sheet2!B2?

Ok thanks for that...bit of a bummer. I was hoping there would be an easy fix!
