How to Sort data which includes alpha as well as Numerals

Hello,
I have used Excel since about 1990 or so and have set up spread sheets and manipulated them. I have Excel 2021 on my computer and want to sort a 828 line data spread which includes an Alpha character followed by a dash and a number. See example of my data set below.

I want to sort the data which includes extra columns of information first by Alpha character in alphabetical order A,C, M, N, P, S, W and secondly arranged in numerical order (A-1, A-2, .....C-1,C-2..... through W-1, W-2, etc.

I have tried using some of the tools in the tool bar but it hasn't worked. I think I need a formula or a function to do this .
