    Trying to combine info in two different files that each have different info I need

    I don't know if the title made sense or if what I'm going to ask makes sense, but I'm hoping someone can make sense enough to let me know if this is something that's even possible. I have two different Excel files. I have a file with a list of people along with information about devices they've borrowed. I have a second Excel file that has information about the same group of people, but now includes their contact information. All of those people have ID numbers, which is included in both files. Is there any way to use the ID numbers to combine the data from both sheets into one? So essentially I want to end up with a file that includes both their contact information and information about the devices they've borrowed. Is this possible?

    Yes, that is possible, and you would tend to use the functions VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH to get the appropriate data. You will need to combine within the formula the full path and filename, along with the sheet name and data range for the source file, and for us to help you we would need to know those details as well as exactly how your data is laid out, which you haven't given to us. An easy way of doing most of that is to attach a sample Excel workbook, and details of how to do this are given in the yellow banner at the top of the screen.

    Not sure where I'm going wrong, but I'm having trouble with this. When I enter the formula, I just get a 0. If there is missing information, in any of the columns, will it not work?

    It should work, in the file that I send back it was working.
    What exactly is the problem that you are having?
