    Losing focus on cell selection

New member, grateful for your help.

When I am entering data on an existing Excel worksheet, the cursor often loses focus and lands on another cell when I am clicking on the cell I want to work on. (It's not my mouse.) When this occurs, I try to click on another cell, but the selection is still offset. I noticed that the offset cell in each incident is always the same position relative to the proper cell in each occurrence, but varies from incident to incident.

In order to restore control of my cursor, I have to leave that worksheet and click on a random cell in the other worksheet. I then return to the page I'm working on and hope that that the focus have returned to normal. Sometimes it takes several tries. Very frustrating.

I have tried to isolate this problem by using a clean worksheet without frozen rows or columns and without formulae, but it still occurs. I may have to abandon Excel.* *

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum.

This is not something I've seen mentioned here before. The only thing I can suggest is that you check:

    1. That you have not accidentallly hit the INSERT key on your keyboard. If you have, then pressing it ONCE again might fix the issue.
    2. Check your Advanced settings under Options about cursor movement.

Failing this, I'm not sure what to suggest, sorry.
