    Power Query Date Formatting

    Hi

There will be, I'm sure, a very simple way of doing this but I'm struggling to find it!

In Power Query what function do I use to amend the formatting of a date? I'm aware of the usual drop down menu options, but there isn't one (I'm certain) that formats as I need.

Date field currently shows as 01/01/2024
I need it to show as Jan-24

In excel I can custom format the data, and likely can do that on this occasion too, but would be good to know how to do it in the PQ editor

    Thanks
    Barry

So, I found this just after I posted. Will solve this but leave here in case anyone else need.

    Formula is Date.ToText([Report Date],"MMM-yy")

Just note that that is not strictly a formatting option. You have actually converted the date to text.

Yes, apologies, wrong wording. I assume though there isn't a formatting option that would have done the same job?

    Re: Power Query Date Formatting

PQ is not a presentation layer so there really aren't formatting options.
