    SUMPRODUCT: Property tax calculations

    Hi.

I am trying to create a single cell formula that will calculate property tax.

I have added an attachment which states the tax bands for both one property and additional properties.

I have highlighted in red the cells which are not calculating correctly. The totals of the red cells should match the totals of the green cells.

If someone could help, that would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    in Name Manager

    Name: Tier_Calc

    Refers to:

    =LAMBDA(amount,tier,mRate,SUMPRODUCT((amount>=tier)*(amount-tier),mRate))

    Re: SUMPRODUCT: Property tax calculations

    hi.

Thanks very much. One final query: I would like the formula to only reference the property price cell and not reference any other cells in the spreadsheet. Is that possible?

    Thanks,

    James

    Re: SUMPRODUCT: Property tax calculations

It could be done using VBA where the calculation is done in the VBA code and it simply returns the desired result.

It cannot be done via a formula.

    Re: SUMPRODUCT: Property tax calculations

This is similar to the personal income tax (PIT) in my country; it's a progressive tax with different brackets.
Since these brackets remain fixed for a long time and rarely change, we can hardcode the amounts for each threshold.
    For ex, with simple If:

    Simila to 2nd home

    =PurTax(pPrice,1)

where pPrice is named range and "1" is for 1st home: change to "2" for 2nd home

The calculation can be further automated to calculate the taxes (Stamp Duty) when the Property Price is entered/changed.

See attached: change value in B4 and see Stamp Duty in B5:B6
