Hidden or cached table name in Excel

    Hi all,
    * I have a table in Excel, previously called Tbl_Status, but someone somehow renamed it to Table11 (probably rebuilt, with Excel's naming). I want to rename the table to Tbl_Status, but Excel doesn't let me as it says the name already exists.
    * I've examined the names in Excel, including hidden names, but there's no named range called Tbl_Status. And, there is currently no table called Tbl_Status.
    * I tried to rename Table11 to Tbl_Status using VBA - the table was renamed Tbl_Status_1, and Excel won't let me change it to Tbl_Status. In VBA, ActiveSheet.ListObjects("Tbl_Status") is recognised as valid, but not in Excel itself.
    * I've removed Data Validation that referred to the table.
    * It seems to be some caching issue, an old name somehow reserved in Excel's memory. I deleted the Excel cache as well as the contents of the OfficeFileCache folder, but the problem persists. I ran a repair routine on the file, even doing a repair on Excel, but nothing has changed.

Any insights or suggestions are appreciated. TIA, Paul

Please attach the file for analysis. See yellow banner at the top of the page.

Okay, somehow I solved this myself. I did so much analysis of the problem; I decided to run another Open & Repair on the file and was able to rename the table as desired. I'll leave this here in case anyone else finds it useful.

@ 6StringJazzer, maybe consider context when pointing people to the yellow banner. Attaching a demo file is fine, but I can't recreate a problem like this in a demo file.

I was hoping you would attach the actual file with the problem, not a dummy demo file. The problem was clearly in the file itself, based on your description. That's the context.
