Copying a sheet to another workbook changes cell interior colors

    Hi,

This is an oddity in Excel - copy does not copy.

Anyone know why this color error happens?

    Thanks.

Are you using Styles to color the cells?

I've no idea what that means. Are you saying styles is a thing? And if so, then are you saying that copying a sheet fails to copy the style of the sheet?

I color a cell using the button in the ribbon, and it doesn't stick when copied. Same with the lines - colored using the buttons.

BTW, I tried copy from the right-click on the sheet name, and also the select-all copy/paste. Same result.

    Thanks.

Excel has cell styles, similar to how Word has text styles. See below.

Excel also has themes, which define color schemes, and it applies to the workbook, so a non-default them can change things copied to that workbook. See below.

Are you copying to a new blank workbook?

I have a vague memory that I have seen this happen before but I'll have to dig to try to remember what happened. I think it was styles or themes. In the meantime can you attach the file you are trying to copy from? If you want you can just delete all the data since we just concerned about formats here.
