Why am I getting #Value as the answer to this basic math problem?

Im just trying to get the percent change or the difference and in both cases, both columns, the math formula ends up with not giving me a solution. Im only getting "Value".

I think this is like a formatting issue with the original data I copied and pasted from a web page into this spreadsheet, but I can't figure out how to fix the formatting so that this will work.

Your helps are appreciated. Thank you.

    Administrative Note:

Is your forum profile showing the Excel PRODUCT that you need this to work for?

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the Office PRODUCT (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your product is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent Excel products are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the version number in your profile (e.g. MS365 Version 2306). This is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Thanks.

Column C is text - you need to change the data into numbers (not just a case of changing the formatting!) and get rid of the manually entered percentage sign. Then format as percentage. Then it will look like this:

AliGW on MS365 Beta Channel (Windows 11) 64 bit

    A
    B
    C
    D
    E
    F
    1

    5.50%
    5.50%
    1
    0
    5.50%
    Sheet: Sample

So, 5.5 needs to be changed to 0.055 and so on.
