Work out time duration from start and end times.

A colleague has passed me the attached sheet. It's obviously very basic at this stage! What I'm wondering is if there's a way to ask Exel to work out the total outage times as she has done all those manually which must have been rather time consuming. Also please be aware that these could go either side of midnight ie. 22:15 to 01:30, which I would imagine makes it harder. I've had a look on google and tried a little myself but cannot work out how this is done or if it's even possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    =MOD(C2-B2,1)

and format as time. Copy down.

You can use this formula (I put it in F2 so I can compare directly):

    =C2-B2+(B2>C2)

I also applied a custom format of:

    hh" hrs "mm" mins"

    and then copied down.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Thanks guys, both of your solutions work perfectly! One thing however that I'm still struggling with is when I try to get a SUM of all the times in column D (like total outage hours) it comes up with a seemingly completely random time. Any idea what the formula should be for that?

    Thanks again,
    Steve

    Format as:

    [h]:mm

    for the total cell.
