    Hyperlinking to JPG

    Hi there!

I have added a hyperlink from a worksheet to a jpg file in a different folder in the same network, when I click on the hyperlink I am told "cannot open the specified file." When I place a different type of file (such as a .pdf or a .tif) or a "non-native" jpg file in the folder, the link works. What could it be about the .jpg files that will not let me link to them?
Thank you so much for your help.

It is possible you do not have a "viewer" associated with .jpg files. What happens if you try to open a .jpg file directly from Windows Explorer? If it will not open by double clicking on it there, your link won't either.

You would need to 'associate' this file type to a viewer (e.g. Paint or Picture Viewer).

    Hi again,
Thanks for the help but I figured it out after I posted the q. I had number signs in all of the file names in that folder which prevented the link from completing. Thanks again.
