excell 2000 is giving an error "not enough memory"

When i am opening a file having 17000 rows & 20 columns, and running the
VLOOKUP command the system is giving an error "Not enough Memory". My system
has got 512Mb RAM , P4 CPU on an original Intel Motherboard. All the
    softwares are original & registered.

Maybe you can find something at Charles Williams' site.

    http://www.decisionmodels.com

David McRitchie has some notes on slow response at:
    http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/slowresp.htm

(but I don't think it covers your situation--but it can't hurt to take a
    glance.)
