Page SetUp Print Problems

    Page SetUp Print Problems

A friend has a spreadsheet that is giving him some problems. We go to
Page Break Preview and the sheet is 2 pages wide. My friend wanted to
make 1 page wide so we dragged the blue line to the right to make it
one page. Excel, instead of doing that, made it 20 or more pages. We
went to the Page Setup and noticed that Excel had changed the scaling
down to 10%. We wanted it to be 1 page wide by 6 pages long so we put
that info in but Excel did not accept it. We thought maybe something
was wrong with the sheet itself so we selected all the cells and
cut/paste them into a new sheet - but it still gives us the same
problems. Everytime we go to adjust the page setings, it creates mroe
pages instead of reducing everything into one.

My friend then emailed me the spreadsheet and when I looked at it,
there was no problems at all. It was set up as 1 sheet wide by 6
sheets long. I saved the spreadsheet and emailed it back to him as an
attachment to see what that would do. Unfortunately, It still has the
    same problems.

    Does anybody have any suggestions/thoughts?

    Thanks,

I think your friend is struggling with page break view. Discourage his use of that. Let's just start all over. Have him clear the print area (File>Print Area>Clear Print Area).

Next, have him highlight the area he wants to print and then do File>Print Area>Set Print Area

Then, have him go to File>Page Setup and select Scaling>Fit to: 1 pages wide by 99 pages tall (bear with me here--it's possible you can't fit your selection 1x6!). Now, click Print Preview to see what you have.

How many pages? 6; 7; 20 ?? Trust me, Excel won't print 99 pages if they are not needed to fit the selected print area. Now, you can go back to Scaling and set a reasonable number of pages for your printout, if required.

    Good Luck

    Just a guess...

It kind of sounds like the printer driver. If he changes printers, does the
    problem go away?
