Workbook Infection\Virus

Whenever Excel (Office 2000) opens on one of our employee’s Windows 98SE computer, a workbook opens with 15 individual, cascading datasheets with text\code from files located at the root directory.

I believe this is an old macro\datasheet\workbook infection from 1997, but I don't recall the fix and our enterprise level McAfee antivirus isn’t triggered by this action.

The Excel Startup folder doesn’t contain a personal.xls file, so, I created one and it now opens… after the 15 worksheets open. Additionally, I’ve been unable to find any macros running in the ‘contaminated workbook.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Finally located the malicious workbook that was loading with Excel. Although Folder Options was set to display all file extensions, this file remained hidden in the 'My Documents' directory and loaded every time Excel was opened. I deleted the file and Excel now defaults to the standard workbook template.
