Array Problem

Hi, I'm no wiz with excel so if anyone can help me then please explain as if you're speaking to new born baby...

I type a formula into a cell, and its fine....

...as soon as I put {around my formula to create an array} and press enter, excel treats it as data and just leaves the whole formula in the cell but doesn't use it.

I can only guess that my excel didn't go to school the day they learnt about arrays, but I'm sure someone here knows better.

I am an array newbie myself; however, i think that if you delete your typed in brackets {}, F2 the formula and then hit CONTROL SHIFT ENTER, excel will accept it as an array formula
