Multiply One Column Times Another Summed by Row

This seems brainless, but for some reason I cannot figure out how to simply my formula cumbersome formula.


In column A I have items, column B I have standard costs, and from C on I have months of units. So in Row 2, I would have an item # in A, a $ figure in B ,and in C I would have total units. I want to calculate in 1 cell, Units times standard cost for the month, summed by ever row there is an item.

Currently the formula is B2*C2+B3*C3 etc... every row... The problem is that the calculation becomes too cumbersome when there are 250 rows, infact, sometimes the formula bar maxes out where I cannot calculate additional rows. Is there a function or simplified formula I can use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Try the following...

=SUMPRODUCT(B2:B250,C2:C250)
