Question about Query Wizard

When I create a new database query using the query wizard, sometimes it lets
me edit the query by clicking the edit query button on the external data
toolbar. However, in some queries it automatically opens Microsoft Query
instead. Why is this?

Probably because your using a data source it already recognises. If it is a query on a flat file i.e Text file, go to the directory where the flat file is stored and see if a file exists called schema.ini. If it does open this with notepad and see if a file definition exists for the file you are querying to
