Permanently visible colunm in an Excel chart

Hi, could someone please tell me how to 'lock' a column in an excel
chart? I am using Office XP (2002) on Windows XP Pro SP2.

I downloaded a template from Microsoft called 'Landscape Plant List',
which is basically a list of plants, along with their needs &
characteristics. The name of the plant is in column B, and then multiple
columns to the right of that contain various bits of information about
the plant specified in that column.

The chart is wider than the screen, so one has to scroll across to see
the columns on the far right, and when I scroll across the chart _Column
B, with the plant name in it remains stationary_, and thus is visible,
    all the time.

I'd like to design some excel charts of my own with a similar 'locked
main-title column' but wherever I've tried looking in cell or column
properties etc, I can't seem to spot what it is they've done on the
downloaded template to make it behave like that.

    Hi Robin,
Select on the intersect you want to "lock" i.e. if you only want to lock
Column A, highlight Col B and go to Window>Freeze Panes.

If you want to lock the row headers as well - select cell B2 and go to
    Window>Freeze Panes.

You could also use Window > Split in a simlar way, and this will allow you
to navigate within each of the frames as well.

    Hope this helps

    Good afternoon mate ...

All it takes is ... highlight Column C and go to "Window"
menu and choose Freeze panes, whilst still having column C
highlighted ,if u want to remove just choose unfreeze
panes from same window menu ...

    Good day to you !
