looking to remove the middle initials and last names

I have a spread sheet with approximatley 10 000 entries and am looking to remove the middle initials and last names from the "name" column.

For examlpe I have

Andrew J Roach

and I would like to have just

Andrew

any suggesstions?

10,000 rows is a lot and this process may be demand a lot of CPU:

Add about 4 or 5 more columns to right of your names, or paste over the names into a clean worksheet.

Select your columns (this is a good time to use your keyboard shortcuts: (shift+cntrl+down arrow).
go up to the menu...choose data...text to columns...delimited...by space and tab...press okay.
