tab does not move to adjacent cell in excel

When I enter data using the tab key in rows a-j, I end up in row k, not the
adjacent cell. Once I enter into K, I jump to U. I can't find an option to
change this and don't know how it happened. I am using excel 2003, and it
did not use to do this.

try <tools><options><transition> and uncheck "Transition navigation keys?
