    Automatic date formatting

How do you insert the sequence "10-8-6" onto a worksheet without it
automatically translating the format into the date 10/08/2006?

Format the cell as Text before entering the data.

    Hi

Or, place a single quote ' before your entry. It won't show up in the cell,
only in the formula bar, and will tell Excel to treat the value as text.
