    Hi,
I would like to extract data from a certain website, how do I go about doing that? can I do it with a macro? if so, is there a tutorial on it somewhere? Please let me know. Thanks very much.

See if this works for you:

1)Open a browser and go to the website.
2)Copy the URL (to notepad for safekeeping...just in case)
    3)Switch to Excel
    4)Data>Import External Data>New Web Query
5)Paste your URL into the Address field in the New Web Query window
6)Click on the section of data you want to retrieve
    7)Click the [Import] button
8)Select where you want to data to reside...and you're done.

After that...to refresh the data, just:
Right click on the data and select "Refersh Data"

    Does that help?

I'm running Excel 2002 SP3 on XP Pro. Evidently, there are some phrasing differences from version to version. So, assuming (yeah, I know) that the functionality will be similar, try:
    Data>Get External Data>Run Web Query
and see where that takes you.

Post back to let us know how you fared.

    Regards,
    Ron

after I got in there, it brings me to a "Run Query" Window.
I tried pasting the URL in the field and it gives me an error message saying the query is not found. How should I go about doing this? I have attached a screen shot here. please help. Thanks.

    A few questions:

What version of Excel are your running?

What's that "Get more web queries.iqy" shown in the file you posted?
-Is that something you can use/customize?

That's all I can think to ask right now.

    Regards,
    Ron
