    Excel In Internet Explorer

    Hi guys,
I have a situation (not a problem!), When visiting a web page that has
an excel spreadsheet available for download I am prompted with the
usual open/save dialog box after clicking the link to download it.

If i choose open the document is opened embedded into internet
explorer, I would prefer to just open this document with excel
directly, Is there a setting or registry entry I can add to make this
    possiable ??

I have looked all over but cannot find a solution!

    Thanks in advance.

it looks you should try data(menu)-getexternaldata-newwebquery

fill in the url address and the no. of the table (in windows 98/excel 2000)
or go to the particular table if it is xp/excel 2002 and clcik import.

    For Windows 2000:

    Open Windows Explorer
    Select Tools > Folder Options
    Select the File Types tab
Scroll down and select the appropriate Excel file types (one at a time)
For each, click on the Advanced box
Uncheck the 'Browse in Same Window' box
Repeat for all file types that you want IE to force to open in the application window
