using advanced filter in excel

I am trying to use the advanced filter option in excel to filter for certain
employee numbers. It does not work at all - nothing is filtered. Can anyone
give me any advice?

The data to be filtered must have column headers (eg: Code, Name, ...)

The criteria must be a vertical range of cells, entered elsewhere on the
sheet. The top cell must contain a column header, the cell under must
contain the value you're looking for.
