Finding cell contents based on certain criteria

Hi, I have a problem that I can't quite seem to solve.

I have a table of data, with names across the top in a header row and different categories as a "header column" (meaning to the left of the data in the table).

i.e.: (Periods added for spacing)
Category.....Jason..........Nick........Josh.........Bryan . . .
Age..............20.............45..........17.............68
Fav. #..........08.............07..........23.............22
.
.
.

Is there any way I can set up formulas to pull certain data from a single cell of the table? For instance, I would like to be able to pull Nick's Favorite Number. Is there any easy way to do this?

Thanks in advance! Let me know if you think this is confusing and would like more of an explanation.
