    adding custom format

Hello...how do I add a custom format permanently. I have format numbers in a
certain format several times a day and I'm wanting to add it permanently to
the custom choices so I'm not having to re-type it every time.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Depending on how many different formats you want, you could select the whole worksheet and apply conditional formats.

Probably not a perfect solution, but it'll mean you don't have to format every cell.

Custom Formats live in the workbook, not globally in Excel.

To have a custom format for all workbooks, you would have to create a
Template(*.xlt) which would be the basis for all new workbooks(not existing
    ones).

Store this workbook in the XLSTART folder usually located at........

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

This will be the default workbook for File>New or the Toolbar button File>New

Do not use File>New...Blank Workbook or you will get the Excel default workbook.

Existing workbooks are not affected by these settings.

You can also open a new workbook and delete all but one sheet. Customize as
you wish then save this as SHEET.XLT in XLSTART folder also. It now becomes
    the default Insert>Sheet.

More can be found on this in Help under "templates"(no quotes).
