Excel 2007 Beta Advanced Filter Performance

I am finding that the Advanced Filter on Excel 2007 Beta is extremely slow
when filtering moderate amounts of data (around 3000 lines). It is
particularly slow when the criteria fields are cleared and operation can be
up to 10 minutes duration.

This is also a problem with Excel 2003, but much less so (normally up to 30
seconds), and can be minimised by eliminating all calculations in the
database or by setting "calculation" to manual during the filter routine.

I have transferred the database from its orignal Excel 2003 application and
reconstructed it in Excel 2007 which helps, but the result is still
impractical.

Has anyone got any suggestions how this can be resolved or is it a
limitation of the Excel software?
