    What's Wrong With This Formula?

    Hi all,

I've got a column (M) that has an IF/VLOOKUP formula to search for various projects. I now want anything that has been returned as an "N" to have a second IF/VLOOKUP done. I thought that I could use the following formula:

    =IF(M2="N",VLOOKUP(A2,'Retail Tracker 3.7.xls'!TUNo,9,FALSE),"")

However, I always get an N/A return, even when there is an "N" in the M column. Can anyone see what is wrong with the formula. It seems fine to me!

    TIA,

    SamuelT

Obvious things but worth mentioning, the table you're looking up must be sorted in ascending order. Could that be the answer?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

    maybe...

Have you checked the value that your looking up matches that in the table?
Sometimes even a minor difference like a space at the end can return an N/A.

    NOthing wrong with the formula!!

    Hi Samuel,

There is nothing wrong with the formula.

    You should ensure the following:
    1) Whether data exists in column "I" of Retail Tracker 3.7.xls
2)Whether, in the range name (TUNo) given, the left most column is similar to column A of present workbook.
If the above two conditions are met, there is absolutely no chance of any error.

Thanks guys. Roshinpp hit the nail on the head - I was looking in the second-to-left column.

A point of interest: Special K - I've never heard of sorting a table into ascending order to do a VLOOKUP...don't think that's right
