pivot table - sorting date field!!!

hi

I) i am having dates in COL A of my table.
when i go in for pivot table for that table
i can't sort the dates in ascending order
eventhough the ascending order option
is selected.

instead the dates are in the order say

01/06/2006
01/07/2006
01/08/2006
02/06/2006
02/07/2006
02/08/2006
.
.
.
so on!

2) also when i try to group the date filed i'm getting the
error msg "can't group the selected field"

any help pl?

Seems that excel has stored the values as strings not as dates. You will need to convert to a date.
