Opening a document to a new window

I know this is a stupid question and i have sorted it before but i have just changed PC's and it is defaulting to opening multiple excel documents under the same window and then i have to click on window to change documents.

I want them to be opened in new windows - any ideas?

Are all of your applications grouping together like this?

Try right clicking on the task bar, then selecting "properties". Untick the checkbox that says "Group similar taskbar buttons".

    Does that help?

Thanks for the reply but that was already unchecked so isn't the source of the problem!

Sorry for the late reply... Open Excel and select:

    Tools>>Options>>View

    Then check "Windows in taskbar".

    Sorted now?

I have the same issue and hate it.

If you open 2 copies of Word, you can view them side by side. They are independent.

This is what I want to with Excel but there seems to be no way. I use multiple monitors and I want to have several workbooks open in each. I can't just expand the Excel window because they are different resolutions and it would be annoying.

    Anyone have any help? Thanks!
