    Forecasting

Does anyone know a good formula for foresting? Below are historical results, the sales were not optimized because the inventory level was too low, meaning the sell/off(sales/sales + End INV) was too high, a good maximization of inventory would yeild a sell/off of approximately 6.5%.

I need to figure out for each week what my MAX sales could have been if I had the optimal inventory level, also need to figure out the optimal inventory level, the one factor I know is the 6.5% sell/off.

    Any ideas?

SP 2006 SALES END INV SELL/OFF
    FEB 1 178 1389 12.8%
    2 327 2130 15.4%
    3 440 1765 24.9%
    4 404 2008 20.1%

Also notice when I copy into here from excel, it crams the data together?

In my example in week one of FEB I sold 178 units with 1389 inventory for a 12.8% sell/off, week 2 sold 327 with 2130 inventory with 15.4% sell/off......

The formula I am looking for would yeild an answer(example):

Week 1 sales could have been 360 if you had 5538 units of inventory............

Let me know if you need further explaination.

    Hi,

It all depends on the level of sophistication you want to have ...

    1. First step is probably to graph your data and use trends to determine the type of equation you are dealing with ...

    2. Second step, if need be, is to go further, with specific add-ins ...
