Exclamation Saving excel from email attachment (HELP)

    Hi all,

I have opened an excel spreadsheet from an email attachement and made lots of alterations.

I have then saved it to a location on my computer.

I now can not locate the altered file anywhere. I have searched the whole netwotk with no success.

    Can anybody help.....Please.

Are you sure you havent saved it to the email?
Open up the email and the spreadsheet and check for the changes you made.
If this doesnt work and you have the original spreadsheet without changes then...

...go through the same procedure you did before but DONT save it, ie click the email, open up the spreadsheet, go to the save button and it may default to the last location you saved it to. DONT save it, but note the location where it is.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

    Thanks for your reply.

I think I must have saved it to the email.

The navigation shows it is in the OLK folder in temporary internet files folder. However, when I navigate to temporary internet folders I can not see the OLK folder.

    Have you ever experienced this?

the OLK folder is hidden from users.

The only way I know of to get to it is via Windows Explore or My Computer, goto the the temporary internet folders then in the address bar type in
    \olk
Make sure that it is typed in exactly as you see it in Excel
    then press enter
This should put you in the folder.

try doing a search from the start (green button) and make sure you search hidden folders. I did the same thing a few years ago and it took awhile, but I did finally find it.
Better to be roughly right than exactly wrong, unless you are using Excel.

Not sure if this has been solved yet but I get this call at work all the time.

    Open a folder and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
Copy the path from the address bar
    Open a command prompt (start>run>cmd)
    type c:\ and hit enter
type cd and right click and hit paste and hit enter
    type dir and hit enter
You should get a list of OLK folders. Example(OLK78a, olk1001a)

go back to the folder you opened (C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\) and type the OLK folder at the end (C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK78A) and hit enter. Check and see if your file is there. Do it for each OLK folder that you have

    If your file isnt there....
    Open a different Excel attachment
    Go to file>save as
at the top where it says Save in, it will list the folder (note this folder down. it might be an OLK or a bunch of characters(FFRESD). Pull down the arrow to get the path (C:\Docs and Settings\Username\temp\temporary internet files\etc\etc). navigate to that folder and type \folder next to the path and you should be able to find the file there.

    Please reply back if successful.
