Unhappy Deleting ALL copies of file

I guess safety copies of files are kept in history or IE 6 temporary files, because I have a file that I want to delete, and I mean DELETE, no copies no history, no nothing. When I deleted the file, and open Excel I see it there in my recently used files, and if I double click, yes indeed, a back-up file springs it up. The directory for this file is something like: Documents and Settings\My name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content IE 5\W737AWDT\File Name
When I follow that path to find it, it is nowhere to be found.
Is there a shortcut to get to it to delete it? Or any other help appreciated.
My knowledge of Windows is moderate to low; Excel is less.

    Hi,

Good luck trying to find those files.

Did you try the 'Delete All Offline Content' in your IE Explore ?
(Yeah, what has that to do with Excel, - no idea)

Let me know how you go.
