    VLOOKUP is failing me

I am about to create a database in Excel (I'd rather not use Access) and I am currently testing what I can do before I start typing in 500 records. I want to use the VLOOKUP function to return if a certain person is attending a certain thing, say the Wine and Cheese. I have tried to create a VLOOKUP function and it only works for certian people in the list Can VLOOKUP return text and if so can someone please help straighten me out. Thanks

    Thanks,
What did the 0 do in this case? It obviously fixed it but I was just wondering what it meant?

It specifies that you want an exact match, instead of an approximate one. See the help file for additional information.

    Hope this helps!

why don't you just create a pivot table, seems easier to me...
With every stupid question I ask, its one less in my mind...Thanks everyone, I'm learning.
