Difference between two dates

Date 1 - 12/10/2004 (MM/DD/CCYY)
Date2 - 12/09/2005 (MM/DD/CCyy)

I want to know the diffrence of the same in other cell in how many years, months and days?

I tried to do it by having the format of date to all those cells and do a b1-a1, but it is just giving me some other date, rather than the exact differenc.

Can someone please help ?
