    Worksheet Security

I have a worksheet I need to add better security to... it has lots of formulas and sensitive information.

Currently I have "range" protection set to protect the formula columns only. However this leaves all the non-formula columns open to users.

User #1 one needs only one column to update
Users #2 and #3 only need to view certain columns, no updates
Users #4 and #5 need to be able to update everything

Ideally, I would like to apply different security and passwords for the 3 types of groups listed above.

I tried applying security by 'user', but their names/ID are not recognized by Excel and it won't let me do it (not sure how the user/group thing works then).

I've tried playing with numerous range protection and different passwords but with no success.

Any tips, ideas, help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

How are you trying to recognize their username? To recognize their Windows/Network username, this works:

I'm not using VB to add security, but using the sheet protection in the "tools" menu.
