Lookup_array NAME in a MATCH function

    Hi,

I am new in this forum and I have a question:

    Considering the following formula =MATCH(H15,PVD,1)
H15 is a cell ref containing e.g. a numeric value
"PVD" is the lookup array name e.g A2:A10 containing numeric values and I have also 2 other named arrays on b2:b10 and c2:c10 named respectively "QVD" and "RVD"
My problem is that I want to reference my lookup array name to another cell let's say H10 containing one these three lookup array names ("PVD" or "QVD" or "RVD") but this doesn't work.
Of course when I enter manually one of these three names the formula works

    Thanks for your help

    Hi,

You can nest the indirect function:

    =MATCH(H15,INDIRECT(H10),1)

I think this is what you want.

    Re: Thanks!

is it also possible without using the indirect function because for that you need to open the other file? if reference is in other file ofcourse
