I know that for conditional formatting the criteria cannot include references to other worksheets even if they are in the same workbook, but does somebody have a workaround for this? Thanks in advance.

While it's true you cannot reference other worksheets or workbooks directly in a conditional format formula, you can use a named range that refers to another location.
For example, let's say you want to change the background color of cell A1 on Sheet1 if the value in cell B1 on Sheet2 was greater than 5.
Go to cell B1 on Sheet2 and click Insert > Name > Define (or in Excel 2007, go to the Formula ribbon bar and click Define Name). Create a name for that cell (try to avoid spaces or special characters, generally). Let's say you named it: Sheet2B1
Now, go to cell A1 on Sheet1 and open the Conditional Formatting window. Add a conditional format such that the 'Formula Is' =Sheet2B1>5
That should do it!
Hi!
I am trying to do that, using a named rage with this formula:
But I get this error: You may not use references to other worksheets or workbooks for Conditional Formatting criteriaPlease Login or Register to view this content.
I even gave up on trying to use different worksheets and tried to put all my data in the same worksheet to see if it works, but incredibly I got tha exact same error!
