Excel Highlighting Problem-(grouping and highlights of all cells)

    Hi,

I have had this problem for a while now, which occurs on and off.

When I click on a cell in an excel spreadsheet, and then go to click on a new cell, excel groups the cells and highlights all the cells that I have clicked on. It does not let me use any other function/toolbar on excel. The only way to exit is to use Ctrl+Alt+Delete and switch offf Excel completely. Once it happens on one spreadsheet it seems to affect all new spreadsheets I open. It is as if the keys in excel are stuck. But all other MS programmes are fine.

If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful. It is driving me insane!

    Cheers,
    Inass.

    Hi,

If the grouping is a block then you are emulating Shift key pressed, if the grouping is individual cells then CTRL key.

Try Windows, 'Start', Control Panel, Accessibility Options, and ensure nothing is ticked except the Notification in the General tab.

    then try:

    Close Excel and
Windows 'Start' Button, select 'Run', and type
    excel /unregserver
    then
Windows 'Start' Button, select 'Run', and type
    excel /regserver

Search for a file *.xlb and remove it

Search for a file Personal.xls and rename (to hide) it.

Let me know how you go.
