Does getting Certification ?

Give you a Edge in the job market. I will like to be a Excel specialist.

It seems to be contingent on a few things: field, location, specific job, etc. I don't think being a specialist will catapult you in new directions, but it might give you a small edge.

I think the biggest advantage is that it qualifies your knowledge. It seems like many people don't realize the scope/depth of excel; they think simple functions (SUM, COUNT, etc) represent advanced knowledge (and they make sure to mention their advanced knowledge on a resume). With certification, you can separate yourself from them.
