Protecting Certain Cells and not others based on password or user

I have a problem that could be solved by two possible solutions, I just don't know how to make the solution work.

    First solution:
A password when opening the file that would make the file unprotected and then once it is resaved that it would save it as protected. That way if some else opens it with out the password they will only be able to open it as a protected file limited to only the locked cells.

    Second Solution:
A way to limit users to specific cells to edit. I would want to be able to open the file and edit every cell. While another person at my company would only be able to open the file and edit specific cells.

I need help with these inorder to get this spread sheet working right. Thank you in advance if you are able to help.

Hi, Brian. One method is to allow Excel to recognize your network (Windows) login ID. First lock any applicable cells that you do not want edited, and protect the worksheet. Next, copy this into the ThisWorkbook module:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
Change the user ID to your login ID.
