    Conditional Formatting Issue

I'm having trouble with conditional formatting.

I have a spreadsheet for creating job codes. I want each line to appear in red and then when I change the cell in column I to 'Completed' it should all go black.

I can do this with Conditional Formatting easily enough - however the sheet has rows and I don't want to have to enter the CF function for every single one.

When I try copying and pasting it doesn't alter the cell numbers in the CF formula.

How can I make it repeat itself???

it sounds like the formula has absolute references ($a$1 instead of a1 for example)

    Conditional Formatting

Ah OK - I hadn't ever figured what the $ sign was for.... so I change the formula to $I38 for example and it will change the figure 38 as the lines increase, but won't change the I in subsequent columns.

    Works. Cool thanks.

if you wanted to have the format over every row simply select all cells by pressin Ctrl+A then go to Format, Conditional Format and enter your formula.
