    Excel acting strange

My Excel is acting weird. Auto correct s sporadic, autonumbering no longer works and autoformatting is also periodically messing up. It looks to me like maybe one of my 'brain files' is kaput.

If I was having these problems in Word, I would remove normal.dot and see what that did, but I have no experience troubleshooting with Excel (It usually just works - I dont get this) Does anyone know if there are files that get corrupted and how to address this?

    Hi,

try removing any .xlb file, and if that doesn't help then

    Close Excel and
Windows 'Start' Button, select 'Run', and type
    excel /unregserver
    then
Windows 'Start' Button, select 'Run', and type
    excel /regserver

    hth

    I am not worthy...

There were no .xlb files, but the other thing seems to have worked - my autonumbering works immediately (yah!) time will tell if my other auto options are working as they were sporadic problems.

What did that do? Was it a result of some manner of user error or system corruption?

    Figured it out

I found out that Auto numbering does no work if an auto filter is on....so thats one trouble solved. (Cant believe I never ran into that before)

I havent had any problems with the auto format or the auto correct since the fix, so Im going with PROBLEM SOLVED. Thanks much.
